Hi-ho! It’s back to Hidcote we go.

As part of our goodmarks* initiative, the mark-makers were out in force again, returning to what is becoming one of our favourite places, Hidcote Gardens.
Doing good things is close to our hearts. It’s a cornerstone of our commitment to making our business more purposeful. As part of that, everyone in the team is free to spend a day volunteering for causes they feel are important to them. But, without hesitation, we all agreed that another mass outing to Hidcote, following on from the work we did in 2024, was our calling.
Last year, we split into two teams on a typically rainy day. Half of us planted spring bulbs through the orchard, while the rest created paths and ‘hotels’ made from rocks and wood throughout the newly designated Insect Garden.
This year, we got to see how the team at Hidcote had progressed since our last visit. They’d done some fantastic things, installing a new aquatic insect pond to attract new species and placing educational signage for visitors. Brimming with excitement, it was time for us to step up and muck in.
Under the blazing heat, some of our mark-makers set about creating a rock border around the pond for the newly arrived water-based bugs to shelter. Everyone else prepared the ground under the London Plane tree with cardboard and mulching for bulbs that would flower and attract the early pollinators. We stand by the tagline: Blood, sweat and ideas. A few blisters, a lot of perspiration and some creative dry stone walling later, we’d pretty much personified it, too

As a business, we’re in tune with the biodiversity issues we face. We’re doing our bit with our own office garden. And hopefully, through our latest volunteering assignment, we were able to make another small but critical contribution to our community and leave goodmarks* for the future.
A huge thank you to Gordon, Lottie, and the entire team at Hidcote Gardens. You were fabulous hosts, and we’d love to return again soon.
