Woodhouse design and manufacture signage, exterior lighting and street furniture. They have been behind some of the world’s most progressive and iconic urban realm projects over the last 25 years. Woodhouse products are designed to an exceptionally high standard and their brief was to create a website that reflected that.

Woodhouse’s clients range from architects to contractors. So the new website needed to be both inspiring and functional, increasing traffic through improved SEO, search functionality and via a blog of relevant industry articles. It also had to be an attractive showcase of Woodhouse’s 300 plus products and 50 projects.

A key requirement of the project was to build a an easy to manage and search directory for the extensive product range and projects, with the following features:

  • Live search, product filtering and mega menus.
  • Search suggestions for related products and projects.
  • User-generated collections of products
  • Comparison functionality for product technical specifications.
  • Downloadable technical documents and high-resolution photographs.

mark-making* built the website using Magento – an industry-standard ecommerce system –modified to Woodhouse’s specific requirements. After a few weeks of the site being up and running results include:

  • Visits increased by 30%
  • Average page views doubled
  • Pages per visit doubled
  • Bounce rate reduced by 20%
  • Time on site increased by 25%

Founded in 1994 with the purchase of Bradbury House in Essex, the Caring Homes Group now owns and runs more than 100 care homes in England and Scotland.

As a division of a broader brand identity development project, mark-making* was asked to design the interface for the new website. The new look and feel has been developed in line with the print collateral, to better reflect the quality of care and personal touch that characterises Caring Homes.

Fairytale Farm website

Fairytale Farm is a unique concept. With ambitions to open the farm to the public in the summer of 2012,  Nick Laister’s vision remains clear: "We want to create an inclusive facility, designed to be completely accessible to, and stimulate the imagination of, children with varying disabilities, but which these children can enjoy alongside children and families without disabilities.

There are very few rural facilities for disabled children and their families. As most parents of children with special needs know, much of the countryside is out of bounds. Although there are a number of centres for disabled children, these tend to be institutional and require advanced booking, and most mainstream attractions are not fully accessible, despite the efforts of owners.

Fairytale Farm will be different. We will be the first family farm attraction where everything is designed around the needs of children with sensory, learning and physical disabilities. But we hope that children without disabilities will enjoy it too!"

mark-making* has been donating its time and expertise to the project for the past few months, developing an identity programme for the farm that will help raise its profile, generate greater interest and attract more much needed support. The website design and build follows the creation of the logo and core visual assets earlier in the year.
