Ali’s first appearance on the world athletics stage ended in hospital, as he crashed out of the 2007 ITU Long Distance Triathlon World Championships in Lorient, France.

Iron Ali breezed through the 3 Km open water swim and was going like a bullet on his bike when a kerb jumped out in front of him and he hit the deck.

Luckily, his bike was fine. However, due to Ali’s inferior build quality, he now boasts internal metalwork to support his broken bones.

Swim : 3 Km starting from the beach
Bike : 8 Km on a coast road between Lorient and Guidel Plage
