Four lucky members of the mark-making* team had an extra long lie-in on the 7th June, thanks to running rings round the rest of us at the dogs.
The dog track at Oxford was the venue for the latest mark-making* outing. The crew was spilt into two groups and given twenty-five big ones each to make the evening go with a swing. Whichever team ended the night with the most money would share their winnings and could come into work an hour late the next day. Losers had the extra humiliation of having to provide tea for the winners all day.
Steve’s groupies started the evening with a rather impressive 20p win, while Ali’s rag-tag team had to wait until race 10 for their first sniff of victory. In the penultimate race Steve took inspiration from a guy in a pink shirt and walked away with a score (£20 for the uninitiated).
The evening ended with Ali’s T-Team on £0 and Turner’s Tribe with a whopping £22.20. Nice work.
As extra special VIPs we also sponsored “The Jenny Taylor Race (In memory of Jack Miov)”. Name generation caused much hilarity for us, but was generally ignored by everyone trackside. We must have a rather niche (childlike) humour. Congratulations to Careystown Daisy who was top dog in the race.
